Privacy Policy

MetroSkope ("we", "us", "our") operates metroskope.in(the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information of US residents and complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act ("VCDPA"), the Colorado Privacy Act ("CPA"), the Connecticut Data Privacy Act ("CTDPA"), the Utah Consumer Privacy Act ("UCPA"), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"), and applicable US federal law.

1. Categories of personal information we collect

  • Identifiers — IP address, device identifiers, browser type, referrer URL.
  • Internet/network activity — pages viewed, time on page, search queries on our Site, clickstream data.
  • Geolocation — coarse location inferred from IP address (city / state / country only). We do not collect precise GPS location.
  • Commercial information — none. We do not sell products or take payments on the Site.
  • Inferences — aggregated reading interests used to recommend related stories.
  • Email & contact data — only if you email us, subscribe, or submit a contact form.
  • Sensitive personal information (CPRA) — we do not knowingly collect SPI such as government IDs, financial accounts, precise geolocation, race, religion, health, biometric data, or contents of mail/messages.

2. Sources

Directly from you (forms, emails), automatically from your device (server logs, cookies), and from service providers (analytics, hosting, search engines).

3. Business and commercial purposes

  • Operating, maintaining, and securing the Site.
  • Measuring traffic and improving content quality.
  • Detecting and preventing fraud, scraping, spam, and abuse.
  • Responding to your inquiries and corrections requests.
  • Complying with legal obligations.

4. Sharing & disclosures

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share limited personal information with the following categories of recipients, each bound by contract to use it only on our behalf:

  • Hosting / CDN — Cloudflare, Vercel (server logs).
  • Backend / database — Lovable Cloud / Supabase.
  • Analytics — aggregated, IP-truncated traffic measurement.
  • Advertising partners — only if and when you accept the "Advertising" cookie category in our consent banner. Some such "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising may qualify as a "sale" or "share" under CCPA/CPRA and similar laws.
  • Search engines — public article URLs are submitted to Google/Bing/IndexNow for indexing.
  • Legal & safety — courts, law enforcement, or regulators when required by law.

5. Your US privacy rights

Under CCPA/CPRA (CA), VCDPA (VA), CPA (CO), CTDPA (CT), and UCPA (UT) you have, depending on your state of residence, the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you.
  • Access and obtain a copy of that information in a portable format.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (CPRA).
  • Opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (VCDPA/CPA/CTDPA).
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a lower quality of service for exercising any right.
  • Authorized agent — you may designate someone to exercise rights on your behalf.
  • Appeal — if we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response (VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA).

How to submit a request: Email privacy@metroskope.in with the subject line "Privacy Request — [Right]" and your state of residence. We will verify your identity by matching information you provide against our records and respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days).

6. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid opt-out of "sale" and "sharing" of your personal information, in compliance with the California CCPA Regulations.

7. Children (COPPA)

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, email privacy@metroskope.in and we will delete it promptly. Users between 13 and 16 in California may opt in to "sale" or "sharing"; we do not knowingly engage in either with minors.

8. Retention

  • Server logs: up to 30 days.
  • Cookie consent record: 12 months from the date you set it.
  • Contact emails: up to 24 months after the last interaction.
  • Aggregated analytics: indefinitely in non-identifiable form.

9. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS in transit, role-based access controls, and Row-Level Security on our database. No system is 100% secure; you use the Site at your own risk.

10. International users

The Site is operated for a US audience. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date below reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be notified on the Site for 30 days.
